I also want blonde hi-lights with the brown hair so should i go to a professional . I also tried dyeing my hair brown and it turn out like a bit of orange,brown and black mixed. So i really need help And now much might it cost for dyeing my hair and hi-lights??

Black hair tends to have a lot of red in it, as you can tell. Continuing to try to lighten it will make it redder.

PROFESSIONAL...... I cannot stress it enough. It is really hard to turn black hair to the color you want and not winding up with orange hair. GO PROFESSIONAL!!!

When it comes to decolourizing hair, always go to a professional. When you used boxed hair treatments, you never know how it is going to end up looking on your hair.

Im a hairstylist and unless you want it orange then deffinately see a stylist, it's a longer process to remove your color you have now and a little damaging, deffinately go to someone who knows what there doing, cost depends on where you live and the length of your locks

get it done preofessionally. it's quite a bit more costly, but must be better than at-home kits. I've never dyed my hair-its not good for your hair, so you could just wait for the black to grow out. also, blonde highlights arent as popular as they were, least, not where i live

Go to a professional. If you still want to try it out yourself, then be sure to look at what the results will look like on the box for your hair color. You may have to leave the mixture in your hair longer for it to come out properly. Also, when selecting the brown hair color you want to go to, be sure it isn't a warm brown color. That will only make your hair take a red or orange hint. Go for the ashy browns or ash blond hair colors. (experience) Some hair color brands will tell you if it tends to be warm, cool, or neutral colors.

Also, get one of the highlight color packages with a hair net and hair needle in it. It is nice for if you want to do highlights yourself. I don't know if there is one specifically for guys, but there is usually one for females. It's cool because it usually includes a little diagram for how much hair you should pull through the net for what effect you are going for. If you want a chunkier bolder look, then pull hair from the holes in this section. If you want a more subtle look, pull hair from only these sections.

You can go to a professional, but it will cost a lot of money. I would give it one more try with the suggestions I have above. If it doesn't work, then it can't be worst than the mix you had above. Just be sure to put your hair through a good conditioning program after, because after all the stuff you will put it through, it's going to need it!
